And Again a Decline Yet Again in Cleveland
Historically, Cleveland would emerge from these two decades of strife and slowly make its way back into a place of respectable if not just acceptable position. This time however, Cleveland was thrown back to the wolves over the nineties and early 2000’s. Facing corrupt politicians, failing school systems that were consistently classified as “academic emergency”, and neighborhoods plagued by violence and drugs. This city struggled. The story remained the same, no companies, no jobs, no money, declining infrastructure, and schools kept Cleveland down.
There was hope on the horizon for Cleveland though. The early 2000’s brought diversification of Cleveland’s economy. It earned itself the tentative description of having a wide variety of successful sectors. Including healthcare, the arts, finance, production and as a leader in environmental protection and reform.
