"Men often view peace as the end of conflict, while women perceive it as the end of violence"

A significant disconnect persists between grassroots women peacebuilders and those shaping global peace-building narratives at the policy level. Bridging this gap remains a challenge, even with efforts aimed at connecting local and global perspectives. Women's participation not only enhances the peace process, as evidenced by various statistics, but also introduces alternative paradigms of peace.

Mallika Joseph is Senior Fellow, WISCOMP and Visiting Fellow, Centre for Policy Research. Dr. Joseph is part of several global and regional networks working on sustainable development goals, gender, human security, conflict prevention, regional architectures, and global governance.

WISCOMP (Women in Security, Conflict Management and Peace) is a pioneering South Asian research and training initiative that foregrounds leadership of women in peace and security and promotes cultures of pluralism and coexistence in the region.

The knowledge generated through research is disseminated by WISCOMP to civil society actors and educational institutions (schools, colleges and universities) through diverse methodologies that include training workshops, symposiums, roundtables, film festivals, installations, exhibitions, public lectures, curricular development and innovative pedagogy. Our channel offers some of these resources. To know more about WISCOMP’s work visit www.wiscomp.org or connect with us at [email protected] or +91-11-24648450.
