What we mean is that the socket is included on the vent itself, but not factored into how we measure the 'effective length' of the pipe itself. In the context of exhaust venting systems, the term "effective length" refers to the total length of ductwork or piping through which air or gases must flow in order to be properly exhausted through that section of the system.
