If you haven't seen in the comments and have wondered which way the washer goes...check-out the first comment (pinned) with the right answer from Mr. Subaru himself!

I originally wrote "It likely doesn't matter but I'm curious what you think regarding orientation of the oil drain plug crush washer/gasket. Do you think the orientation matters? Let me know what you think. I show you how I orient it in the video when I replace the oil in my wife's 2018 Subaru Forester Touring with the 2.5L boxer engine." Well, after MrSubaru1387 answered my #shorts video within a minute of posting it, it sort of crushed any speculation in my book. So, as MrSubaru1387 says, flat-side to the plug, rounded-side to the oil pan...so I guess that means it actually does matter, too.

If you haven't checked out his channel before (if you own a Subaru, I'm sure you already have :-)...check out @MrSubaru1387 he seems like a really great guy and sure knows his Subarus.

(Note: Amazon's vehicle parts selector says this part is not compatible with a 2018 Subaru Forester. However, Dorman's own website identifies this crush washer as the correct part for a 2018 Subaru Forester)
