Lipoedema is medical condition where abnormal deposits of adipose tissue gather under the skin. It can make your bottom, legs and sometimes your arms look out of proportion with the rest of your body. It causes pain, swelling, bruising and mobility issues.

Even though lipoedema impacts about 11 per cent of Australian women, the exact cause isn’t clear. It’s likely not caused by being overweight because you can be a healthy weight and still get it. It might be related to hormonal change, because the most common time of onset is puberty, pregnancy, and menopause.

Treatment options include the use of compression stockings, massage, low-impact exercise, diet changes and water-based activities. When other treatments fail specialised liposuction could help. Read more: https://ab.co/49IeLj8
