Jennifer Moore, aka Recovergirl, talks about the environmental and ethical impacts of
fast fashion and why we should all consider buying secondhand clothes first. She

argues that secondhand and resale is a huge business opportunity for small businesses
and regional shopping malls and urges the audience to start thinking #secondhandfirst. Jennifer Moore is the founder and co-creator of Project Upcycle, a sustainable fashion competition for emerging designers in New England, and PortSwap, the popular clothing swap that celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2019 with over 500 people in attendance. Over the years, Jennifer has been a blogger, editor, and magazine contributor on sustainable style. Jennifer is known online as “Recovergirl,” which she says is a riff on the brand name CoverGirl with “Re” added to bring to mind “reduce, reuse, and recycle.” . This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
