In 1999, Marissa Mayer joined Google as their first female engineer and 20th employee. In the clip here, she talked about growing up in Wisconsin, getting hired at Google (she had 14 offers after graduating Stanford), and the accidental origins of Adsense.

Considered significantly responsible for the look and feel of Google's iconic homepage, she also played an integral role in the development of Gmail and Google Search, which, under her direction grew from a few hundred thousand to more than two billion searches per day. She now serves as Google's vice president of local, maps and location services.
