When estate agent Alice Thompson returned to work in 2019 from maternity leave she asked her employer for shorter hours to accommodate nursery pickups. Instead of an understanding response, she found her requests were met with a sense of continual dismissal. Eventually Alice felt like she had no choice but to resign, taking legal action against her employer in the process. In a triumphant victory this week, Alice was awarded almost £185,000 by the employment tribunal on the grounds of indirect sex discrimination. She joins us on the sofa to tell us why her case meant so much to her and why she never wants her daughter to face the same discrimination.
