Tired of marching cubes producing skinny triangles and losing sharp geometric details? The NVIDIA Kaolin library now includes FlexiCubes, a method for extracting meshes from scalar fields designated for gradient-based mesh optimization.

FlexiCubes offer a better fit for surface features with nicely-shaped triangles. You can directly define objectives on the extracted surface, such as re-rendering loss and energy functions, and watch the shape adapt across meshes of various topologies.
