Travel in Europe and getting around comes with so many more...often much cheaper...options than we have in the United States. Add to that the fact that you're often literally traveling from country to country, instead of just state to state, when you go a few hundred miles, and the difference in your experiences just multiplies! If you're getting ready for your first trip to Europe, don't over plan, and realize that it could be super cheap to hop to a couple extra countries if you have time and flexibility!
