Bedrock Rapid
Class 7 | 7 ft drop

"Bedrock Rapid occurs where a large schist island splits the river current in two. The easy run is to stay right as close to the shore as possible and pull hard right once clear of the boulders along the shore to stay in the water moving right of the island. You may conclude after scouting the best run is to start on the left tongue and break right, but moving right is much harder than it looks. The left run is not recommended. If you go left, be aware there is a strong recirculating eddy on the far left, so you'll need to follow the current line close along the left side of the island and right of this eddy. You will then need to get washed into a small chute of violently fast moving water along the left side. Hang on!" from Guide to the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon (Lees Ferry to South Cove) by Tom Martin.
