Charles Laughton was good at transforming. During his acting career he accommodated all types of characters with expert craft. His popularity would eventually afford him the opportunity to direct and with it came a greater opportunity to articulate his greatest fears and desires, not by transforming into someone else, but by revealing himself for who he truly was.
