Michigan's “KITCH-ITI-KIPI” Big Spring on Upper Peninsula: UP's "Mirror of Heaven"

Palms Book State Park near Manistique, MI is home to Kitch-iti-kipi or the “Big Spring.” Also called "The Mirror of Heaven," it's a freshwater spring 200-feet across and 40-foot deep. The water is 45 degrees year-round. Over 10,000 gallons of water gush up from fissures in the limestone every minute, creating undulating clouds of sand.

The best part? An observation raft floats visitors across the pool to see underwater features such as the lime-encrusted tree trunks and fat fish below. The raft and the trail leading to it are ADA accessible, and leashed dogs are also welcome.
