This is my 3 year review for my DIY black Plasti Dip Rims on my RAM 1500 Pick-Up truck. I originally had 20 inch chrome rims from factory with my RAM 1500 Big Horn, and decided to Plasti Dip them black because i think the 20 inch black rims look much better.

I have been pretty impressed with the durability of the plasti dip to this point. if you guys have been following along with the channel you'll see that I do take my truck off-road a far bit and it really hasn't damaged my plasti dip. The one exception is when I put tire chains on my wheels and that obviously scrapped some paint up.

The most damage to the plasti dip was when I had my tires changed and unfortunately every rim has some paint removed when installed new tires. So be aware of that if you plan on putting new tires on your vehicle it will ruin your plasti dip rims

As with all paint work it is the preparation that matters most and plasti dip is no exception. I think the best way to get great results with plasti dipping your rims is to remove the wheels from the vehicle making it easier to paint. you can also clean and prepare each rim much better with them off the vehicle. Obviously you want to vigorously clean each rims and make sure they are completely dry before painting them. I would also try and tape off your tires or as I showed try stuffing some paper or a deck of cards between the rim and tires you you don't have to worry about overspray.

Lastly I would let the cans of plasti dip paint sit in some hot water before praying to really help get a smooth finish. The best part about plasti dip is that if you don't like it you can just peel it off. it isn't permanent!
