Education systems play a significant role in shaping our world. How might they be reimagined as the world's sociological, ecological and technological trajectories shift at an unprecedented rate? What role can education systems play in advancing global peace and prosperity within increasingly divided societies? What would it mean to treat knowledge and learning as global common goods?

On International Education Day, the Northwestern Roberta Buffett Institute for Global Affairs hosted a discussion exploring global futures of education with Bryan McKinley Jones Brayboy (Lumbee), Dean and Carlos Montezuma Professor of Education and Social Policy at the Northwestern School of Education and Social Policy, and Noah Sobe, Professor of Modern European History in the College of Arts and Sciences at Loyola University Chicago and former Senior Project Officer at the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) on the Future of Learning and Innovation team. The discussion was moderated by Baron Reed, Deputy Director of Northwestern Buffett and Professor of Philosophy at the Northwestern Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences.
