Imagine you are learning to play the piano but every 6 months the structure of the piano changes, you would become easily demotivated. This is what learning technology feels like if confidence is not instilled in you by your teacher. Specifically in the IT sector, what is taught in universities today becomes outdated quite quickly.

She shares a story of how the construction of an island resort in Lake Victoria was remotely managed from Norway and Uganda by simply teaching the local manager to effectively share pictures of construction work via WhatsApp.

Through this insightful story, Mrs. Biteete demonstrates why digital transformation is important for a country like Uganda and how we can build confidence in the youth to achieve it. It spurs investment, accelerates trade, creates jobs and builds skills.

She is currently helping build Refactory, an innovative training programme for aspiring IT professionals in Uganda.
