What Happens The First Month After Closing? If you took out a loan, you might notice a scratch in the wall the appraiser might have a missed, or a minor leak you didn’t seem to catch. This is alright! Just jot down in a notebook or take note somewhere all these minor issues you have with the house, because if you took out a loan, you, most likely, will have something called a “House Warranty.” This House Warranty can be used to leverage fixes for reduced or free costs to repair, so make sure to keep any and all legal documents with you during and after closing.

This leads me to my next piece of advice, which is keeping in contact with the previous owner. The previous owner has a lot of experience with the house, so if you have any questions, be sure to contact them, for they could have insight on the crooks and crannies of the house you might not have been aware of.
