In the 2007-08 season, Portsmouth won the FA Cup and finished eighth in the Premier League, as Pompey owner Sacha Gaydanak promised the club would challenge the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea.

And yet, just seven months later, Portsmouth had descended into financial meltdown, beginning an era of chaos, administration, and three relegations, as Pompey almost fell out of existence on multiple occasions.
