The Difference between ibn al-Arabi and ibn Arabi
,Explained by Shaykh Salih Fawzan


Question: O noble Shaykh, may Allah grant you success. Is ibn Arabi ( عربي ابن) Muhyi-deen ibn Arabi who is buried in Damascus Syria? He gave Dawah there and
some people believe his Dawah was correct. What was his methodology?

Shaykh Fawzan: Yes, he is ibn Arabi the one who believed in unity of existence. It is
said about him that he was from the most disbelieving people upon the earth. This is
because he did not make a distinction between the Creator and the creation. He
called to unity of existence. He wrote books called “Bezels of Wisdom” and “The
Meccan Revelations”. Both books are jammed packed with misguidance! And with
Allah refuge is sought. He is ibn Arabi the one who is buried in Sham. A shrine is
placed over him. They deem him to be from the allies of Allah. We ask Allah for
safety and security! He is called ibn Arabi al-Tāʾī al-Hātimī.

As for ibn al-Arabi (العربي ابن) with the letters Alif and Lam, he is a noble Imam
from the Maliki scholars. Ibn al-Arabi is from the Maliki scholars, from the Imams
of the Maliki scholars. He has very beneficial writings. Therefore, there is a
difference between ibn Arabi without the letters Alif and Lam, and ibn al-Arabi.

Ibn al-Arabi ( العربي ابن) the noble scholar (may Allah have mercy upon him) is Muhammad ibn Abdullah ibn Muhamad al-Muāfiri known as the Judge Abu Bakr
ibn al-Arabi. He was born in Seville Spanish Andalusia in the year 468 Hijri. He died
534 Hijri.

Ibn Arabi ( عربي ابن) the #sufi heretic is Muhammad ibn Ali ibn Muhammad ibn
Arabi al-Hātimī al-Tāʾī; known as Muhyi-deen ibn Arabi. He was born in Murcia
Spain in the year 558 Hijri. He died 638 Hijri.
