In 2013 Sam Moffett became the youngest ever winner of the Donegal International Rally in only his second ever drive in a World Rally Car. Driving a patient rally, Moffett and co-driver James O'Reilly remained in touch with the leaders and when pacesetters Garry Jennings and Darren Gass fell foul of penalties and an accident, the Co. Monaghan pairing pounced to secure an historic win. The Monaghan success continued with Stephen and Suzanne Wright winning the Group N category and Gary McPhillips and Paul Sheridan winning the National section.
