Did you see the teaser?!! Can you believe it? I certainly can’t! And although the trailer mainly focused on ramping up the nostalgia factor with villains like Alfred Molina’s Dr. Octopus and Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin, there seems to be another villain in the movie. No, I’m not talking about Sandman, Electro, the Lizard or even Venom, but I’m actually talking about the wizard that Peter Parker goes to see to make this all happen in the first place. That’s right. Is Stephen Strange the ultimate villain of this new movie? Well it’s definitely a possibility!

Today we’ll be discussing two different ways that our favorite magic user could actually be the main guy Peter Parker faces in the new movie. The first is that this Stephen isn’t actually Stephen, but rather someone else in disguise. The trailer hints at Mephisto making an appearance and given that the original comic this storyline is based on deals with Mephisto as a major player, could the villain have somehow swapped places with the goateed arrogant wizard? If that’s the case, then Peter is about to fight his toughest villain ever!

But the other option is that this Stephen Strange isn’t an outright bad guy, but rather someone who just would do whatever it takes to protect his universe. Would the wizard sacrifice other universes to save our own? Absolutely. Would Spider-Man? Probably not. This puts the two at odds with each other and could see Peter become his own hero by standing up to his new mentor. Either way, we’re in for an awesome time!
