Can You Heat Your Underground Buried Downspout?

I'm going to be retrofitting a heat cable for plastic plumbing pipe to an underground Buried downspout system. The reason why I stay away from most rooftop wires is they'll melt a PVC pipe so you don't want to use it in your underground downspout system. You want to protect your PVC or HDPE, depending on if you're running corrugated pipe or if you use PVC pipe. You want to make sure that the manufacturer says it's safe for plastic pipes.
