January 8th is World Typing Day! This day celebrates this printed form of communication that ensures speed, accuracy, and efficiency over hand writing.

For today, Howard shows the full letterpress printing process from type case to the printed proof. The first portion is setting the type in the composing stick from the California job case. The font selected is 48 point San Serif Extrabold. The second portion of the video is building the form in the chase and locking everything in place using furniture and quoins. The last portion is Howard printing “World Typing Day!” using our Washington hand press, which was made in 1852.
