For nearly five years, Volkswagen has shown us concept car after concept car, promising that it would dominate the world's electric car market by 2025.

Yet its first mass-produced, ground-up electric car (the first one to be built on a dedicated platform) has suffered some major issues on its way to dealer lots.

From software issues to strange design choices (which leave buyers of the highest-range ID3 with four, not five seats), the whole ID 3 design and production process has felt rushed, and distracted.
