2 Fast 2 Furious, released in 2003, follows Brian O'Conner, played by Paul Walker, and his friend Roman Pearce, played by Tyrese Gibson, as they go undercover for the government to catch a drug dealer named Carter Verone, played by Cole Hauser. They hope to clear their names in exchange for helping. It's the sequel to the 2001 film "The Fast and the Furious."

After the success of the first film in 2001, a second one was planned. Paul Walker returned, but Vin Diesel and Rob Cohen couldn't. In 2002, Tyrese Gibson and director John Singleton joined. To explain Diesel's absence, they made a short film called "The Turbo Charged Prelude for 2 Fast 2 Furious" in 2003. Filming took place in Miami from September to December 2002.

2 Fast 2 Furious premiered in Los Angeles on June 3, 2003, and was released in the U.S. on June 6 by Universal Pictures. Despite negative reviews, it earned $236.4 million globally. In 2006, a standalone sequel, "The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift," was released.

Full story plot:
Brian O'Conner, a former cop, helps wanted criminal Dominic Toretto in LA and hides out in Miami, street racing with his friend Tej Parker. After getting caught, Brian strikes a deal with the FBI to clear his record by going undercover to catch drug lord Carter Verone. Brian chooses his childhood friend Roman Pearce as his partner. They discover Verone's plan to smuggle money and decide to stop him.

During the mission, Brian and Roman escape the police with fast cars and clever tactics. They confront Verone, rescue Monica Fuentes (an undercover agent), and capture Verone. The FBI keeps their promise, clearing Brian and Roman's records. The friends decide to stay in Miami with the money they earned.

Paul Walker plays Brian O'Conner, a former LAPD cop who became a runaway after helping Dominic Toretto escape in the last movie. Now, he lives in Miami and drives a 1999 Nissan Skyline GTR R34 and a 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VII.

Tyrese Gibson is Roman Pearce, Brian's childhood friend on house arrest after serving time in prison. He blames Brian for his arrest and drives a 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder GTS.

Eva Mendes is Monica Fuentes, a U.S. Customs agent working undercover as Carter Verone's aide. She's also Brian's love interest.

Cole Hauser is Carter Verone, a tough Argentine drug lord. Monica, Brian, and Roman go undercover to infiltrate his organization.

Chris "Ludacris" Bridges is Tej Parker, a race host and Brian's friend who organizes street racing events.

James Remar is Agent Markham, a U.S. customs agent leading the operation against Verone and Monica's boss.

Devon Aoki is Suki, a friend of Brian, Tej, and Jimmy. She's the only named female racer and drives a hot pink custom Honda S2000.

Thom Barry is Agent Bilkins, who met Brian during his undercover work in the first movie. He comes to Miami to oversee the situation and has respect for Brian's driving and racing skills.
