In this video I show the best NVIDIA shadowplay recording settings. Your video recording settings can all be changed through the game overlay, with the best settings varying depending on the resolution that you are recording at.

The main recording setting that you will want to change is the bit rate, which controls the quality of your recordings and the file size. The higher the bit rate the better quality the recording will be, however, the larger the file size will be as well. Due to this, you typically want to set the bit rate so the quality is good without having too large of a file.

If you are recording 1080p then a bit rate of 30 is often used. However, you can go lower without sacrificing the quality of your video too much. Additionally, you can use 40 or high for a 1440p recording, and 50 or higher if you’re recording in 4K.

When adjusting your NVIDIA shadowplay recording settings you will also want to make sure your audio is set up correctly. You can record your system and microphone audio using the NVIDIA overlay. Typically, you will want to at least record your system audio to ensure sound is heard in your videos. This will allow you to hear gameplay while recording. Additionally, you can also record your microphone audio.

You also have the ability to separate your audio tracks. This means your system audio and microphone audio will be separate. This allows you to edit the audio with better control if needed. However, only one audio track will be heard when playing the video. If you don’t plan on editing the video audio then only using one track will be best. However, if you want the ability to mute your microphone at certain points in the recording then separate tracks is advised.
