Senator Bill DeSteph and the Broad Bay Island Civic League invited engineers from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to discuss plans for Submerged Aquatic Vegetation planting in Broad Bay, Virginia Beach as part of the Lynnhaven River Basin Ecosystem Restoration Project in December, 2023.

The intent was to provide a forum where residents could ask questions, voice concerns and hear explanations provided by the Corps and the Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS). Watch this video to learn about the benefits associated with this aspect of the ecosystem restoration project! The seagrass was planted recently in Broad Bay on 31 January, 2024.
