How do we train new machinists properly? Keep watching to grab 5 pointers for better training and effective leadership.

You know those weeks when it feels like everything goes wrong? As a machine shop leader, it can be easy to place blame on team members, but before you do that, are you sure that you're supporting them and giving them the tools and resources they need to succeed? Maybe your team isn't receiving the right resources. That's up to leadership to fix.

Of course, "hand-holding" is not recommended, but don't mistake hand-holding for giving your people the right resources and support. There's a difference! Let's not mistake hand-holding with training guys up quickly and PROPERLY!

This is about effective leadership. Throwing people into something without the proper tools will lead to many preventable headaches, whether it's scrapped parts or damaged technology. To train properly means guidance. Here are 5 pointers to make sure you're supporting your people and training them to set not only them but your business up for success.

It is important to keep in mind that even when everything feels like it is going wrong, it won't help to overhaul everything and start over. The best way to implement better systems and fix what is broken is to start small. Consistency and doing one issue at a time, as they come along is KEY!

Any tips that stood out to you the most? Tell us your story about things you have found that do and don't work when training.
