Safe ice dam removal, do it yourself. I'll show you how to remove and prevent future ice dam issues. I'll show you how to prevent ice dams in the future.

I purchased the permanent solution from Edge Melt Systems, Delafield Wisconsin 888-360-7872 WWW.edgemeltsystems.com.

Update January 2024.
We received over 24" of wet snow over a weekend. I turned the cables on at the start of the storm, and after almost a week I have not seen any icicle's indication freezing at the gutter. The heating cables are performing as expected. We're experiencing double digit below zero temps at night, and single digit below zero as highs in the day. Again, I highly recommend this product. - Bill

Update Jan 2023, After two ice dam free winters, I continue to highly recommend Edge Melt Systems and their system.

I purchased the ice dam mat shown in the video starting at 01:00 from a web business at theicedamremover.com, I'm not sure if they're still in business. Climbing a ladder to place the heating mat was something I didn't want to continue doing. I strongly recommend you look at the Edge Melt System.

Here's my electrical bill for the winter months. Please note I cannot quantify the increase is caused by the heating cables. There's too may other factors that I can't measure . However, if 100% of the increase was from the heating cables, I'm willing to pay this amount to avoid damage to my home from ice dams.

This is a comparison of this years cost of electric compared to last years cost. Note that the monthly total electric bill does included the cost to operate outside water heaters for livestock.

December 2021 Increase of $22.62 year over year. Cables used for 7 days
January 2022 Increase of $27.00 year over year. Cables used for 10 days
February 2022 Decrease of $20 year over year comparison, note I was away on vacation for two weeks. And the cables were not used during February
March 2022 Decrease of $20 year over year. Note the heating cables were not used in March.
April 10, 2022, In conclusion, the cost to operate the heating cable is minimal and worth every penny to me as added protection against ice dams.
