Unlike the physical things your business owns however IP ‘items’ are often ‘intangible’ and the most recent survey by the UK Office for National Statistics showed that investment in intangible assets was £8.5 BILLION higher than investment in tangible assets in the same period.

The Intellectual Property Office (IPO) also estimates that 70% of a typical company’s worth lies in intangible assets.

But the real value of IP in a business comes only IF it is protected and the IPO’s study also suggests that the value of such assets may not always be visible to business owners and managers.
