If you didn't know how to install your own in-ground sprinkler system or set up a sprinkler zone along a sidewalk strip without wasting tons of water then this project I took on may be helpful to you.

I dug out old underground sprinklers that weren't working well and were over spraying lots of water all over the place. I then trenched in new sprinkler pipes and set up the heads to spray only the parkway strip and not the sidewalk or the road. Now the sprinkler zone gets full overlapped water coverage and I'm using only a fraction of the water available to me in this zone.

For this installation, I used basic PVC pipe sold at my local hardware store and 4" Toro 570 sprinkler bodies so that I could set the sprinkler nozzle at ground level and be sure the nozzle would pop up above the grass even when it is tall.

For sprinkler nozzles I used the 5-foot radius Toro 570 sprinklers, most nozzles were 180-degree nozzles and I also used 90-degree nozzles for the corners.

If I was trenching in new sprinklers for the main yard I'd be looking to install the 360-degree nozzles on the heads located in the middle of the yard instead of just trying to throw water to the middle from the edges with a 15-foot nozzle.

In the middle of my main yard I'm actually using a different sprinkler system completely, it's a robot sprinkler made by Irrigreen.

It connects to the home wifi and with an app I program a single head in the middle of the yard to map out the lawn and sprinkler the lawn precisely, meaning I only have minimal trenching to do.

It's basically an expensive sprinkler that can be installed cheaply that also saves water throughout the year.

For traditional sprinkler installations, and especially those on sidewalk strips I highly recommend the Toro Sidestrip Nozzles which send water out in a rectangle 4' x 30' or the 5' radius arcs that I used in this video. Links to these heads and bodies follow:
