Gigafactory Texas on 6 August 2021! This is where the Cyber Truck and Model Y will be built!

Very busy morning with several new developments and milestones achieved today! One of the more interesting developments is the use of Berkel Auger Pressure Grouted Piles in the south end of the central area. We discuss these in the introduction in detail, but I’ve also placed this information in the highlights section below.
We see several large pipe deliveries by semi-trailers this morning. I’m not sure exactly where these will be installed, but they are quite substantial and large-diameter steel pipes.
The parking lot was full, indicating quite a bit of interior work and possibly pre-production testing of the Model Y was going on inside in addition to all that we see on the outside. Lots to see in this video and a lot of good information as well!

Here are the highlights from today's video:
- Large steel pipes were being delivered this morning when I arrived. These had diameters around 6 feet (~2 meters) and looked quite substantial … where these will be installed is unknown at this time, but I did get some good closeup images
- The battery cell west wall is now about 90% complete and many more interior walls/structures going in too! More work on the roofing materials was underway this morning, as was the continued re-installation of the roof decking over the HVAC equipment area. The ground-level was also very busy and thankfully, free of water today!
- A major milestone has now been achieved, as the south end of the General Assembly structure is now at perimeter grade beam along the entire length except 1 column now and the steel assembly is moving along quickly on the rest of this area too! 2nd and 3rd floor concrete pours have now reached nearly to the angled section of the southwest corner as well.
- In addition, the steel assembly is expanding the structures in both the Central & “alley” areas this morning, and in the south end of the central area, a huge pier drill rig is at work (I noted this in my last video, but did not mention it specifically).
- Berkel Auger Pressure Grouted Piles
- Constructed by advancing a hollow-stem continuous flight auger into the ground and pumping grout through the hollow shaft of the auger, producing shafts of grout in the soil
- They are a specific system within the industry-termed Auger Cast-in-Place pile (ACIP pile) family (also referred to as Auger Cast Piles or Augercast Piles)
- APG piles have been installed to depths of up to about 200 feet (~ 61 m)
- Diameters vary from 12 to 24 inches (~ 31 cm to 61 cm) in 2-inch increments and 30 to 48 inches (~76 cm to 122 cm) in 6-inch increments
- Load tested to over 2000 tons and have been used to support compressive loads of up to 1000 tons

- They are using earthmoving equipment on the west side hill area (between the General Assembly west road and loading dock area and the main highway), widening and smoothing out the hill area. It looks like they are also widening the narrow corner area near the battery cell angled section) as well.
- A large section of road appears to be ready for paving the east side of the Body-In-White (BIW) structure. Also, on this same side of the BIW structure, the large scaffolding on the east side has been removed.
- Finally, as I was departing Giga Texas, I noted the start of what appears to be paving on the west side of the highway on the new road that connects under the south bridge to highway 973 on the west. I’ve asked other Quad Squad members to try and film this later today.
