When is a good time to build a blog as an author, before or after you publish your first book? In this video, I'll break down some of the benefits of why you would want to start your author blog as soon as possible.
I use GreenGeeks web hosting: https://www.greengeeks.com/track/writ...
Yep, that's an affiliate link.
My published books are available on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/author/michael...

Now, you don't necessarily need an author blog in order to be successful. But think of some of your favorite authors. Do they have websites? I bet the vast majority of them do, and for good reason. It's all about building a community and fan base who are ready to buy your books as soon as they are published.
Of course, you need to cultivate that audience by keeping them in the loop or through blogging about experiences and whatnot. You need to give them a reason to follow the blog outside of just because you have a book coming out soon. And it can take a lot of blogging to attract a large following.
But over the years, I found it incredibly beneficial to have an author blog. Despite WriterSanctuary pulling more traffic, my author blog is what shows front and center when Googling my name.
