There is a connection between what we do in our daily lives as Muslims and being productive. Muslims are productive people, as it should be if we really practice. Standing in prayer according to its time is the most productive we can be.

In this lecture, Mufti Menk reminds us about being productive as Muslims. The key he says is to really practice Islam as it should be practiced. Ask ourselves - how is our prayer? how is our relationships with the Quran? how much do we know about our Prophet (saw)? how much of what we know we actually practice? how is our relationships with our family? how are we at home and at the workplace? how do we interact with people or with the community? etc.

If we fulfil what is required of us as a slave of Allah and as a follower of the Prophet (saw), and commit to the responsibilities of being a son/daughter to our parents, a father/mother to our children, an employee, a leader/superior, or someone living in a community, then, we are on our way to becoming productive Muslims.

Mufti Menk also reminds us that there is a greater purpose of these acts. Our actions in this world are our investments for the hereafter. By being productive Muslims, first of all, Allah will reward us. Second of all, we may invite others to understand and practice Islam, set an example and perhaps, encourage them to better themselves.

This lecture was recorded at Al Manar Quran Study Centre, Dubai, UAE, on the 08/11/2013. Link to the original video:    • Productive Muslim (Dubai) - Mufti Menk  .

There is a beautiful Hadith about Passing on Knowledge:

Reported by Abdullah bin Amr bin Al-As (RA): The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “Convey from me even an Ayah of the Qur’an.” (Bukhari).
