GOOD movies made in Latin America?… In today's video we are going to see gems that are worthy of highlighting and recommending. Put these 11 films on your list to watch these days.

From Colombia we recommend the films La Vendedora de Rosas (1998) and El Abrazo de la Serpiente (2015). The first is directed by Víctor Gaviria and is a film contextualized in Colombia at the end of the century, much more dangerous and marginal than it is currently. It is based on the story of Mónica and several young people from Medellín who live in an environment of poverty and crime.

The second film is directed by Ciro Guerra and features performances by Nilbio Torres, Antonio Bolivar, Brionne Davis and Jan Bijvoet, it is a joint production with Argentina and Venezuela. It is based on the mission of two scientists to find a sacred healing plant in the Amazon, the yakruna. They are separated by 30 years but both are accompanied by the same shaman who guides them along the way.

The Aztec country is also present in this video with Güeros (2014) and Amores Perros (2000). The first Mexican film is directed by Alonso Ruizpalacios and is about the story of two brothers, Tomás and Sombra, who begin to live together and have a mission: to find a legendary singer named Epigmenio Cruz, who is supposedly admitted to a hospital. Santos is Sombra's friend and the three begin this adventure that also gives them a little meaning and direction to their lives.

One of the three stories that Amores Perros intertwines is starring Gael García Bernal, a boy who wants to conquer his sister-in-law and has (logically) serious problems with his brother... the other two stories are starred by Goya Toledo and Emilio Echevarría . These three stories that develop in parallel during the film are connected by a fatal crash in Mexico City and... dogs.

Peru is not far behind and on this occasion we recommend Días de Santiago (2004), a film that is based on the story of Santiago Román, a former combatant from his country, who after fighting in the Cenepa Conflict against Ecuador in 1995 is having problems adapting to living in society again.
On the other hand, Contracorriente (2009) is not the typical film about love and heartbreak, but rather goes much deeper. It tells us the story of Miguel, a man who is about to be a father but who hides a big secret: he is deeply in love with Santiago, a painter who came from another town, who most see as someone strange and reserved. Without a doubt, a super interesting plot that leaves us thinking for a while.

From our Uruguayan friends is The Night of 12 Years (2018), a film that is based on real events, more precisely during the last military dictatorship in Uruguay, which occurred between 1973 and 1985. We put ourselves in the shoes of Mauricio Rosencof, Eleuterio Fernandez and, the best known, José Pepe Mujica, during their 12-year captivity.

From 2015 is the Chilean film El Club, directed by Pablo Larraín. We get inside a house where four priests and a nun live. It is a nice and big house, but as the minutes go by we are going to realize that not everything is what it seems and that they are there for a somewhat... murky reason.

We already talked about this film in other of our videos but without a doubt, we couldn't leave it behind this top. Tropa de Elite (2007) is a Brazilian film that features performances by the great Wagner Moura, André Ramiro, Cairo Junqueira, Maria Ribeiro, among others. During the film, we witness the incredible story of Captain Nascimento, who makes us participate in his constant fight against corruption in Rio de Janeiro. As we recommend the one from 2007, we also recommend part 2 of this story, from 2010.

Wagner Moura also participates in the Brazilian film Carandiru (2003). It is directed by Héctor Babenco and places us inside the Carandiru prison, more precisely in the eyes of a doctor who is carrying out an HIV treatment and prevention campaign.

Mr. RRRicardo Darín could not be left out of this top, that is why we recommend Carancho (2010), a film starring him that features performances by Martina Gusmán, Carlos Weber, among others. Darín plays Héctor Sosa, a corrupt, unlicensed lawyer who, like the caranchos, is a scavenger bird that lives off victims, in this case traffic accidents.
