This video is part of the #Classic_Celica series.

Deciding to buy a first edition Toyota Celica is only part of the leap to ownership, the huge hurdle would be to be able to detect the difference between each model and find a clean, rust-free example that is complete without any missing parts.

However, when you find a complete Celica, do not be overwhelmed and agree to the asking price. There are so many trim levels, that once Celica could be significantly higher just because it is a matching number car or has the sought-after and rare original 18-R engine. And throughout this video, I briefly talk about how to educate yourself on the various differences.

Back story: I knew I wanted to buy a 71-77 Celica, when I first lied eyes on it at a local dealership in 2007. These cars are uncommon, hence why I had never seen one before, and back then I wasn't able to afford the asking prices. I occasionally went to see a few here and there that were for sale, but all needed work, some rusted, some without an engine, some in boxes. But when this olive green (Paint code: 630) became available in 2018, it was at the right price and the condition was outstanding for a 40+ year old car.
