Always try it on a test piece first. I've learned my lesson for sure. This stain works great and I'll be using it on future projects like driveways and other concrete. For this outdoor fireplace it was just too red and too fresh looking. I think even after it aged outside in the sun it'd still be too red for the look i was wanting.
