Ford has given us exclusive access to review the Mustang Mach-E, their upcoming VW ID.4, Tesla Model Y competitor. Our experience with the car began with a 30-minute walk-through of the vehicle, then we were assigned phones that would act as our keys throughout the event, and finally, we got to drive. First, we decided to test out the handling of a RWD Mach-E (in Rapid Red) through a short Autocross style course Ford set up for us to safely push the Mach-E to its limits. After that, we hit the open road in an Extended Range AWD (Star White) Mach-E. While there was a suggested route, Ford generously gave us complete freedom and 3 hours of access to the Mach-E as we documented our experience.

Overall, we are very impressed with the #MustangMachE and see it as a very significant contender in the Electric Crossover/SUV space. Both have about 300 miles of range, seat 5 passengers comfortably, and can be optioned out hit 60mph in just 3.5 seconds. It will be interesting to see how these cars sell through 2021 considering how similar some of these vehicles are on paper. Generally, we're guessing many people will prefer Tesla's sales model, their Supercharging network, and their existing lead in the EV industry, however, it is important to note that Ford vehicles can still qualify for the $7500 Federal Tax Credit, the Mach-E will costs much less, like the VW ID.4.
