For All Mankind season 2 episode 3 has been released on Apple TV+. We pick up with trouble in Panama, and the Soviets take over a lithium mine on the Moon. This brings General Bradford (John Marshall Jones) and Ed Baldwin (Joel Kinnaman) to the conclusion that they will have to have armed security to protect the site.

On earth at Johnson Space Center in episode 3 we see that Margot (Wrenn Schmidt), Thomas Paine (Don Donohue), and Ellen (Jodi Balfour) argue against guns on the Moon, but Ed and Bradford win the argument. Margot also goes to see Aleida to offer her a job at NASA as a way to keep her from being deported. Aleida is reluctant at first because of their past, but eventually decides to take the job.

Gordo (Michael Dorman) is getting ready to go back to the moon in episode 3. He is attending classes to get prepared, and has a scare at the end of the episode where he sees blinking lights from his VCR that remind him of his problems on his last trip to the moon. His ex-wife Tracy (Sarah Jones) wrecks her car and asks him for help, and is upset when she finds out they’re both going to be on the moon at the same time.

We also see the Baldwin’s adopted daughter Kelly (Cythy Wu) decide that she wants to go to the Naval Academy. Karen is opposed to the idea at first, but comes around. They think that Ed will be excited about the news, but he flips out. He’s afraid of losing Kelly like he lost their son Shane, and he breaks down when confronting his buried feelings.

For All Mankind season 2 episode 3 explores the Baldwin’s grief, and Gordo’s anxiety about returning to the Moon. It also sets up a potential armed conflict between the US and the Soviets in space in future episodes.
