Generation 3 Prius’s are part of the unfortunate group of cars that are targeted by thieves for the catalytic converters. The difference between these and the earlier gen 1 and gen 2 cars is the cat assembly is cooled by engine coolant and a missing or stolen cat means you cannot operate the vehicle safely without it.
