"Give me liberty, or give me death!" is a quotation attributed to American politician and orator Patrick Henry from a speech he made to the Second Virginia Convention on March 23, 1775, at St. John's Church in Richmond, Virginia.

As tensions with Great Britan rose in the spring of 1775 and only weeks before shots were fired at Lexington and Concord in Massachusetts - and so avoid interference from Colonial Governor Dunmore - the Second Virginia Convention met March 20, 1775 inland at Richmond — in what is now called St. John's Church — instead of the Capitol in Williamsburg.

Delegate Patrick Henry presented resolutions to raise and establish a militia, and to put Virginia in a posture of defense. Henry's opponents urged caution and patience until the crown replied to Congress' latest petition for reconciliation.

In his speech, Henry presented a proposal to organize a volunteer company of cavalry or infantry in every Virginia county. By custom, Henry addressed himself to the Convention's president, Peyton Randolph of Williamsburg. Henry's words were not transcribed, but no one who heard them forgot their eloquence, or Henry's closing words, dramatized here.

Sample of our Historical Recreations work for the series "Legends & Lies: The Patriots." The second season of this series is about the heroes and patriots who helped shape America into a nation - Action and Dramatic "Style Reel" to showcase the Directing, Historical Costumes, Special Effects and Set Design work provided by the 'LionHeart FilmWorks' and 'Historical Wardrobe' teams for the show.

A series "Legends & Lies: The Patriots" was produced for Fox News Channel by Warm Springs Productions and it examines the notable figures and events of the American Revolution era.

The American Revolution was neither inevitable nor a unanimous cause. It pitted neighbors against each other, as loyalists and colonial rebels faced off for their lives and futures. These were the times that tried men's souls: no one was on stable ground and few could be trusted. Through the fascinating tales of the first Americans, "Legends and Lies: The Patriots" reveals the contentious arguments that turned friends into foes and the country into a warzone.

From the riots over a child's murder that led to the Boston Massacre to the suspicious return of Ben Franklin, the "First American;" from the Continental Army's first victory under George Washington's leadership to the little known southern Guerilla campaign of "Swamp Fox" Francis Marion, and the celebration of America's first Christmas, The Patriots recreates the amazing combination of resourcefulness, perseverance, strategy, and luck that led to this country's creation.
