We’ve Seen Black Widow - And We Have Questions

You could be forgiven for thinking that the Black Widow solo movie - like James Bond: No Time To Die, like Dune, like Free Guy, like all those other movies that have been delayed for months, even years, by the pandemic - was never going to appear. But now, Marvel’s Disney’s Black Widow, starring Scarlett Johansson as the Avengers’ very own Natasha Romanoff, is here! And whether you’ve seen it in movie theatres or on Disney+ Premier Access, we know that you must have seen it by now.

Directed by Cate Shortland, the movie takes place between Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War, and gives us a look into the past of everyone’s favorite morally ambiguous Soviet super spy. Featuring Florence Pugh, Rachel Weisz and David Harbour as her long-lost Russian ‘family’, the movie is an action thriller, a dysfunctional family drama… and, of course, part of the MCU.

This means that there is continuity to service! Canon to address! Gaps in the timeline to fill! And inevitably, as with any movie that comes out of the Hollywood machine, there’s going to be stuff that doesn’t add up. Stuff that makes us scratch our heads. Stuff that makes us stop on the way to the refrigerator and say ‘huh’.

So, in the spirit of respect for filmmaking craft and loving movies, here’s a video discussing our top 10 nagging questions left over from Black Widow.
