In May of 2023 - www.hothatches.co.uk handed me the keys to this Rally Red Honda Civic Type R GT. The "King of the Ring" and a car I have previously owned (EP3 Generation) I was keen to see if Honda have held on to the driving dynamics of years gone by which have made so many of the Type R GT "cult classics".

Honda don’t have many cars that are best in class, in fact they have one and this is it! The Civic Type R, The King of the front wheel drive Hot Hatch world, an absolute animal on track and yet forgiving enough to use every day. The facelift which we have here has one of the best gearknobs we’ve had the pleasure of wrapping our hands around, other tweaks include updated software to the trick active dampers, floating brake discs that save 2.5kg of unsprung weight and resist fade but Honda knew not to mess with the already great engine so that remains unchanged which is a good thing. It pulls so well from 2,000rpm producing figures that will impress all petrol heads. There is a reason this car can claim the “king” title, and for this reason you need to seriously considering it for your next car.
