ETSY BAD! How they're killing their vendors

Today we are going to be addressing the topic of Etsy and why we believe you should not be buying anything off Etsy.
Etsy has some of the highest fees than any other platform. They charge 12% of your revenue on every individual sale. But it doesn’t stop there. Etsy has a program for vendors who sell over $10 thousand a year, which is probably most vendors who do this as their full-time job. Etsy will charge them another 12% for running ads of their products.

Once you hit $10 thousand per year in revenues, you are automatically entered in the program. You do not have the choice to opt-out from it. That means even if a vendor does not want to waste 12% of their revenues on ads, Etsy still includes them in the program and takes that 12%. Additionally, if their revenue goes under $10 thousand dollars per year in the next year, they still remain in the program. There is no way out of it.
Vendors also cannot choose the products they want to advertise and cannot see any of the analytics. It is all in the hands of Etsy and most of the power is taken away from the vendors.
International and Local Vendors:
Because labor costs are much lower in other places around the world (such as China), vendors in north America can no longer compete with other countries who are able to substantially lower the cost of their products and still make revenue.

This is a platform that was supposed to support vendors and artisans, however, most of them now have to lower their prices so much to compete with international vendors to the point where they cannot support themselves anymore. If we keep lowering our prices, then the quality of our products will dwindle as well.
Another issue is many international vendors will plagiarize a design and sell it for much cheaper. No matter how many times vendors flag these things to Etsy, the company takes no action.
Etsy has the worst clients:
Although this is a harsh truth, it needs to be said. The company breeds bad clients. We get bombarded with questions multiple times a day for weeks from the same client. This is especially frustrating because almost all questions can be answered through the descriptions we took time to write out. Obviously, we always welcome questions and do our best to make sure every client is confident and happy with their purchase. However, there does need to be some sort of limit. This is also not an isolated incident; it happens more often than not.

Share this with anyone who needs to hear this. Boycott Etsy but support their vendors!
