It is hard to overstate just how scared people are right now.

People in the English town of North Shields have told ITV News they are facing bills they just cannot pay.

Looming rent or mortgage payments are only adding to the financial burden as the cost-of-living bites communities all around the country.

Investigations Correspondent Daniel Hewitt saw it etched on the faces of almost everyone he met during his time in the North East town, which is accustomed to weathering tough times, but none quite as tough as these.
