This video shows the entire Goldmine Trail hike which starts at the top of the granite dome and descends down into the valley at Sandy Creek. There it meets up with the Creek Bend Trailhead.

There is an old goldmine which was active over 110 years ago, but was covered up by a pile of granite boulders, so there is currently no way into the mine. This was the first of 3 mines on the old property - the other 2 mines are still on my neighbor's ranch which is still owned by the granddaughter of the man who did the mining. The mines were never profitable, however, we have found small amounts of gold in Sandy Creek.

This hike was done at the end of March during the spring growing season, so the trail is difficult to see. During other times of the year the trail is much easier to see, and you can even see it in satellite photos. But in the spring the wildflowers and grass grows so quickly that it overtakes the trails for a while.
