Since 1974, Therapeutic Riding of Tucson has been encouraging each of our participants to live life without barriers through equine assisted activities and therapies. TROT provides services to a diverse population of individuals living with disabilities starting at age 4, including a specific class for military veterans. Children and adults who participate in equine assisted activities and therapies can experience physical and emotional rewards. Riding a horse moves the rider's body in a manner similar to a human gait, so riders with physical needs often show improvement in flexibility, balance and muscle strength. For individuals with emotional challenges, the unique relationship formed with the horse can lead to increased confidence, patience, and self-esteem. Partnering with horses also provides recreational opportunities for individuals to enjoy the outdoors, as well as to take pleasure in the interaction with animals.

Over the years, TROT has served thousands of individuals living with disabilities and is dedicated to empowering the most vulnerable of individuals to move in a world where capabilities surpass the sense of inability through the power of horses.

TROT has been established at its current location since 1986. Its 18-acre property at the base of the Catalina Mountains in Tucson, Arizona is fully equipped with 13 trained therapy horses, riding arenas, sensory trails, barn, five grassy pastures and administrative offices.
