The film embarks on a journey along the coast and draws a portrait of this fascinating landscape and its inhabitants. In the far west on the French border, sailing enthusiasts from all over the world take part in a regatta for historic yachts. In addition, plant experts in the province of Imperia maintain one of the most beautiful botanical gardens in Italy. Traditional beach resorts are lined up around sophisticated San Remo, and the world-famous Taggiasca olives grow in the mountainous hinterland - harvested by hand for generations.

In Genoa, the capital of Liguria, street musicians make the streets of the old town ring, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of its beauty. The basil for the famous Pesto Genovese, which is still traditionally pounded by hand in the restaurants, grows around Genoa.

In the east of Liguria lies the popular peninsula of Portofino and the Cinque Terre National Park with its five picturesque fishing villages clinging to the cliffs like swallows' nests. Thanks to countless dry stone walls erected by hand, grapes for the Sciacchetrà wine grow on the steep slopes. The golden yellow dessert wine is a specialty of the region.
