This tired and dated front door light gets a modern spin with a smart light, what's your thoughts, are these a gimmick, or kind of handy to have?

...First, I safely disconnect from the power source and make it look nice again by sanding it down and painting it to suit the new front door colours, it all ties in well and looks a lot nicer!
