Preventing Mountain Sickness - Everest Basecamp - Dr Gill

When it comes to joining off into the mountains to fulfil your dreams, go, hiking, or bags and peaks, it's important to do everything possible to ensure that little things don't get in the way of your experience. One of the big things that affect people when they head to Everest Base camp or climb Kilimanjaro is altitude sickness or acute mountain sickness.

There is a medication, oxamide, or Diox, which can be used to reduce the possibility of getting mountain sickness. There are many other things that increase someone's risk of developing this condition, but few medications can be used to try and mitigate acute mountain sickness and also work as a treatment.
